Can't get enough...

Can't get enough of my python nails! Really, I mean I just hate to get in a matchy-matchy situation but it is kind of fun to see the print on my scarf, on my nails too. Equally funny is my behavior while I use my fingers in the daily chores. Extra careful about NCLA wraps to avoid them from getting torn. It's on my nails since more than a week but I just don't want to loose these beauties.

I am wearing ASOS crop top, Tommy Hilfiger rose gold chronograph, Marks & Spencer linen pants and flats from Westside. The python print scarf was gifted by my guy.

I have been observing since sometime that my nails have become my new drawing board. Not being able to sketch for long made me start fiddling with nail art pens and nail polishes (remember the thumb print nail art !). I have seen NCLA's nail wraps being one of the newest things in nail art and I came across this suuper website called Kamali Moon while Goggling these. The rest of the holy-fashionable! stuff crossed my budget except for these wraps. Didn't think twice and clicked on SHOP NOW. I think I scored a record for putting them all in just 2 mins! Can you beat that?!

With the flow

It's so wonderful to know how dainty spaghetti straps and flowy long lengths gets us whenever we plan to start packing for a beach getaway. Damp, sandy beach side, sultry weather rightly arouses the romance, love for the red red wine and Rastafarian tunes. Yes it does happen to me at least!

Although this dress was bought a few months back but the right mood was all that I was waiting for to give this typical beach beauty, a fair justice. The beads around the armholes didn't let me do any accessorizing around the neck or ears. I then thought of adding more character to the bead work itself.  Stacked up my statement rings all together in one hand and I could see the embroidery-statement rings duo talking while I finished dressing up.

As told by a very close aunt of mine, being a kid I was mad about 'dum maaro dum' song. With messy hair sitting at one corner of the drawing room I used to hum it till the time Zeenat's spirit didn't leave my body :D and the interesting part was that the last 'dum' used to get exaggerated a little too long. 

The rebel Zeenat's character used to and still gets me. 

Since the time I understand fashion, I mean since the time I started putting my mom's makeup secretly, I have always left at least one thing unmade whenever I dress up. Not being bothered about my unwaxed arms and legs, several times I have gone partying. Without combing my hair I have gone for interviews. I assumed that me being comfortable and not too bothered about what people think will make me express myself more and so far it has worked! Honestly, this whole thing of being carefree about such things satisfies the gypsy in me. 

Now why I styled it like this...its because of the Aztec in this look that I wore a plain top with it. Since I paired these ASOS woven brogues, the look demanded some layering you see! I topped  the look with this vintage jacket bought from Paharganj, a leather backpack and threw a statement wooden ring and made my hair how wanted it to be.

Denim never dies

I never invest in any sort of cropped versions of denims. I cannot recall a single time when I bought shorts or capris for myself. But yes I have shamelessly over indulged myself in the denim cheese. Already own 10 pairs of jeans and my heart can any day melt for a would be 11th pair even when I am out for shopping groceries.

The bottom line is that Denims are not meant to be thrown. They reincarnate as the time passes. I mean since the time I exist (which I assume it's not too long), the bell-bottoms got reborn thrice and skinnies made a reappearance twice. Even the not-for-everyone high-waisted ones did a fair business twice during this time.

Here's a couple of oldies in my wardrobe that I wish to talk about.

This one came as bell-bottoms but after a couple of years it's wide bottoms went through a liposuction and the jeans turned into a straight-fit pair. I wish I had a picture of mine wearing these. And after 5 long years of usage when my legs came through a trail of squat and lunge sets then this darling became my boyfriend (jeans). It's one of the veteran stars of my wardrobe.

These came as dark skinnies and did a good job to disguise my thunderous thighs and I used and abused it with every seperate that I can think of. Then I got slim and these got loose. Couldn't part away with the comfort that this pair gave. So I decided to chop them into shorts. Trust me I don't even think of buying shorts.


Now talking about the two in the picture below. The light blue Levis is my guy's. These were rescued when he was about to pass it on to the washer man! Well, I still haven't decided what I will do with them but this oldie is too cool to be given away like that. Isn't it!?

 I never in my wildest of imaginations thought that the whole sneaker thingy will become this huge one day. Yesteryears when our dads and uncles use to offend fashion by teaming sport shoes with formal wear is now happening again on the western streets. And we are now finding this way beyond cool. I mean lace dress or suit paired with bizzare coloured sneakers is suddenly cool now?! Nevertheless, taking all the advantage of this micro-trend, I am totally taking a break from my stilettos this summer. Which reminds me that I have just one 2-year-old pair in my shoe rack...but hey! Isn't the sale still on?!

The gold tone separate that I wear here was bought from Melbourne. Its box pleat detailing instantly made me fall for it. All I could do is quietly hand over my card to the merchant while doing the permutation-combination of it with the bottoms in my wardrobe. 

Thumb print nail art

I end up spoiling my nail paint every time I try putting it. The impatient me can't wait for it to get dry. A while back the same thing happened and I out of anger spoiled it completely. Being too lazy to take the mess off, I kinda started liking the texture it gave to my nails.

This uncanny nail-art incident made me do this DIY. Most of you might not like it but I had to blog out this idea stuck in my head since then. No brushes required. All you need is your thumb :)

Even the best of the best branded outfits cannot beat the pleasure that I get when I buy a thrifted piece. I get really finicky about quality and fit when it comes to clothes but give it a break while I shop at export surplus markets in Delhi. Buying this maxi was a risk; fit wise but I took my chances. The dress turned out to be in the next size of mine but some alteration made it almost like a made-to-measure piece.

This dress is going to occupy space in my summer wardrobe. Wearable anywhere, airy enough for this clammy weather and covers-up generously too.

Here’s how I will style a printed maxi

Maxi is one of the few outfits that can be put into the phrase ‘when in doubt wear a…..’.  It hides all body flaws just so perfectly.

Since it is in print, I choose not to disturb the print with any chunky accessory.

I always follow the rule of adding at least one striking element (good or bad) to my look so I put on this ear cuff at one side, keeping my hair at the other side. I tried to get half shaved long hair look. Striking enough!!

I don’t know if the choice of footwear is justifying the look but the animal print & its colour felt right with the tropical print of the dress.
